Claude Code
Claude Code reads skills from ~/.claude/skills (every project) and .claude/skills (one project). Install the VidLab skill there and start Claude Code from a terminal where VIDLAB_API_KEY is set.
Set up
- Put your key in your environment (how) and open a new terminal.
- Install the skill for every project:
npx skills add https://vidlab.ai -g -a claude-code -yLeave out -g to install it for the current project only (it is saved in .claude/skills/vidlab). By hand instead:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/vidlab && curl -fsSL https://vidlab.ai/vidlab-api/SKILL.md -o ~/.claude/skills/vidlab/SKILL.md- Start Claude Code in that terminal and check it with a free question:
Use the VidLab skill: list three video models and the price of a 5 second clip at 720p.Claude Code runs the calls with curl or with code in your project, and asks before it runs a command if your permission settings say so.
Tips
- Claude Code loads a skill when the task matches its description, so "make a video with VidLab" is enough. You can also name it: "use the VidLab skill".
- Check the key is set without printing it:
test -n "$VIDLAB_API_KEY" && echo set || echo missing. - Update the skill by running the install command again.
